Socratic seminar
In class we had a socratic seminar on child labor. Something I brought up during the class discussion was that some kids wanted to work and weren't forced. Something else I brought up was some children worked to bring in money for their families.
Something someone said that I found important was that they would stop buying products made by child labor. Another thing I found important about what someone stated is that they didn't think child labor was as bad until they researched it.
Our group had a good discussion overall and was well prepared with notes to help participate.

Hershey Activity
In class we were given Hershey kisses and most students got 3 pieces and some got 10 pieces. The purpose of this activity was to show the difference between Capitalism, Socialism and Communism. The activity was fun because we played rock paper scissor shoot to earn more kisses.
Karl Marx wanted money to be equally divided by the people so that no one struggled. The poor can help themselves by having private ownership and freedom of competition. Adam Smith theory could help benefit the poor because the prices of goods will be reduced because of businesses competing with each other and the poor can afford more.
I think the best theory is Karl Marx's because people had the chance to get money equally and compete for it.

City Inspectors Report
This report dated 1840 has been provided for the urban planning committees of various cities in England. My name is Ajalil Douglas, and as a mid-level city inspector I trust that you will use the information within to determine appropriate needs in urban planning for your municipalities. My report has been through as I have made use of all the sources available to me and have worked to guide you through my own analysis and critical thinking to a full description of the issues facing our cities.
The Industrial Revolution had some positive impacts on life and work in cities. The Cotton Mill work place was a good, clean, safe place to work (Doc B). The conditions in the mill was very favourable, and the rooms were lofty and spacious. This is positive because while people worked they could be comfortable. People weren’t bothered by the smoke from chimneys.
The negative impacts the Industrial Revolution had on life and work in cities affected people lives. Cities were polluted with smoke that came from the factories and the rivers were turning purple. Women and children were forced to work in dungeons with heavy choking air that caused bad health. The workers had to work in uncomfortably work conditions. Factory work was causing peoples limbs to be distorted.
Based on the sources I’ve read, I think industrialization had a negative impact on living and working conditions in the cities. The most convincing information is the pollution and the rivers being purple.More information that is also convincing is the women and children worked in dungeons.
